The meeting on April 17 starting at 8:30 a.m. with a few rolls and beverages
that I'll provide will be "on the University of Minnesota campus, Social
Sciences Building, Room 710 -- The Social Sciences Tower is located on the
West Bank of the University of Minnesota. There are two parking ramps
nearby, one on 19th Avenue across the street from the Carlson School and
Wilson Library, the other on 21st across from the Humphrey Institute. The

only building of that height on the West Bank. There is a fee for parking."
(Ellen Kennedy) Expect to be finished around 1PM.

I will then contact the 6-7 finalists we want to see on May 1 at the
Radisson on Washington Ave in Minneapolis. We use the rooms of the
University Rotary Club, and will start with breakfast at 7:30. We will
finish that second and last round around 3PM. After that meeting, I will
forward the recommended winners to DG Sandy and DDG Larry for District
approval. We expect to recommend 2 or three winners, depending on strength
and performances. Each scholarship is worth $25k and District 5950 has
allocated between $115k and $85k in the past five years. Recently, one award
winner could not travel and we regained a cultural scholarship of $13k.
Cultural scholarships are no longer in the Rotary ambassadorial scholarship
offerings. We will be looking at full year academic awards only.

your local club can provide specific information about application
deadlines. For 2011-12 awards, club deadlines may be as early as 1 March
2010 or as late as 15 August 2010. Remember that availability varies by
Rotary district. If your local district is not offering scholarships at this
time, try inquiring next year.

Use the Club Locator

have a Rotary club, try entering the names of nearby cities. You can also
consult a local telephone directory.

offered in their district or region. Orientation seminars include training
on developing and delivering speeches and presentations.
* Study or training must be undertaken in another country or territory where
there are Rotary clubs. It cannot take place in the country of the sponsor
Rotary district.
* Although applicants are asked to list their preferred study locations, the
Foundation Trustees reserve the right to make assignments to any suitable
institution to ensure the widest possible geographical distribution of
scholars. Candidates must be flexible in their study institution
assignments.
* Scholars will not be assigned to a city, state, or province where they

scholarships are not appropriate for students seeking to continue their
studies at a given university.

study-abroad program affiliated with a home-country institution.
* Scholars must locate funds to cover all expenses that are not specifically
financed by their scholarships or for which their scholarships are not

* Scholars may receive additional funding from other sources during the
scholarship period, but the Foundation will not duplicate funds provided by
these sources.
* Depending on tax laws in the home and host countries, the scholarships may
be partially or fully taxable. It is the scholar's responsibility to
investigate tax regulations for scholarship funding.
* Ambassadorial Scholarships may be used for almost any field of study but
