Hi Mario, this should be no problem.  If you need to download the popup installer or get instructions for setting it up, that is on http://huskynet.stcloudstate.edu/printing/mac/pharos.asp
The instructions should work for your install too in the lab.

The only thing you will need to know from me is the queue name.  That is KVAC105BW.  The rest of the needed info should be in the instructions. Printer queue IP address is: 199.17.25.141

The only thing you need tell students is that when they print, to name the job their HuskyNetID (username).  When they login to the release station they will see their jobs then.

I would assume it would follow regular naming convention.  If so, then KVAC105CLR.  I'm just going off of convention here though.

Requirements

Installing printing requires that you:

• have successfully installed, configured, and registered your computer

• are currently on campus and active on the network

• know your HuskyNetID (username) and password

• have Macintosh OS X

Instructions

Step 1: Install the Popup application

Download the file Popup.dmg. Double-click this file to create a new disk image in Finder. This disk contains the Popup installer, Popup.pkg. Double-click the installer to run it. You may have to authenticate yourself as an administrator for your computer. If so, click the lock icon and type in an administrator username and password. Select a destination volume (you will only be able to select the startup volume). Click <Install> (or <Upgrade>). The installer will automatically install the Popup application.

In order to ensure that the Pop-up application works consistently, we recommend that you include it in your list of login/startup items.

• For MacOS 10.2.x login items are found in “System Preferences: Login Items”

• For MacOS 10.3.x login items (or startup items) are found in “System Preferences: Accounts: Startup Items”

Step 2: Install a SCSU Printer

Open the Print Center application in Applications/Utilities. Select . Select "IP Printing" from the popup menu and enter the IP address 199.17.25.141 for the Pharos LPD Server. Uncheck "Use default queue on server" and enter the name of the print queue to use. Use the list below to select a printer queue to print.

• MCBWMAC (this is for the black and white printers in Miller Center

• MC201CLR (this is for the color printer in Miller Center 2nd floor East Lab

• ECC103BW (this is for the black and white printers in ECC Beehive Lab

• RESNET (this is for black and white front desk printers in the Residence Halls

Select a printer model from the popup menu, or leave it with the default of "Generic". Click the button to close the dialog, then quit Print Center.

Printing Information

When you are printing to a HuskyPrint printer, you will see a "popup" application appear on the screen. Supply your HuskyNetID (username). Make sure you supply your HuskyNetID so you are able to release your print jobs at the release stations.

NOTE: If Pop-ups do not pop-up when printing, your local firewall may prevent Pharos Pop-up to be allowed through the firewall. To make sure it is allowed, go to Apple menu, System Preferences, Sharing "control panel". Under the Firewall tab, click the New button (next to Allow.) Settings are:

You may also need this driver available to the PPD installer if you use OS 10.

(If you have a Mac that runs system 10 but needs to revert to Classic System 9 to run Quark install both drivers for OS 10 and OS 9)

Unlike our old driver that had to use the Adobe print driver you can use these printer descriptions with Laser writer 8.  The printer is in the SCSU Ethernet zone with the name Canon_Hold.

HI Bill and Rob-

Rob mentioned he did not get this email before so I am sending it out again.  Copies Plus has gotten many requests from stduents who want to print from Kiehle to the new color copier. I apologize for my delay in getting these drivers over to you till Sept 12 but I am hoping we can meet these students needs soon.  The Canon 3200 produces a nice quality output and we only charge $.60 for the first copy (less for multiple copies)  11x17s are only $.85 for the first copy.

We will conitnue to let the students know that they need to contact the lab administrators for the installation to be done.  Once the drivers are installed we can do up nice instruction sheets for the students.  This driver was also sent to Bob Lessinger for the open lab in Kiehle.  The IP address for the printer is 199.17.4.167

After consideration by members of the Tech Fee Committee(2.5 to 2.5 vote), Phil and I discussed the options as well and decided the best solution is to trade in the iMac at the Computer Store and get the G5.  This will mean 1 less Mac in GISMO and 1 more Mac (G5) in the KVAC lab.   So, hopefully the units can be swapped next week before fall semester starts.  

Phil is planning to visit with Kristi on the printer today.
