Dear Rotary World Peace Fellowships Chair:
We will soon send you application materials for 2009-10 Ambassadorial Scholarships
/Rotary Grants for University Teachers, 2009-11 Rotary World Peace Fellowships,
and the Rotary Peace and Conflict Program. You can expect to receive these publications
directly from the RI Distribution Center in December 2007. The quantities that
will be shipped to you are listed on the reverse side of this letter. Please
note that some quantities have been reduced since all publications are available
for download on the RI Web Site.
A successful scholarship experience begins in the capable hands of Rotarians
like you who understand the difference the selection process makes in fulfilling
the goals of the program. The Rotary Foundation Trustees encourage districts
to select Ambassadorial scholars whose study fields have a strong
humanitarian impact and who request to study in countries that do
not host many scholars. For information on the selection of Rotary Foundation
Ambassadorial Scholars and University Teachers, please refer to the Program Guide
for Rotarians (publication 012).
Every district and each country within a multi-country district may submit one candidate
for the 2008-10 Rotary World Peace Fellowships competition. We encourage
your district to seek out and submit a qualified candidate for consideration. For
information on the promotion of Rotary World Peace Fellowships and selection
of candidates, please refer to the Rotary Centers for International Studies Program
Guide for Rotarians (publication 085).
Each district may submit as many candidates for each session of the Rotary Peace
and Conflict Studies Program as they deem qualified, regardless of the district
funds available to sponsor the candidates. Districts are encouraged to
recruit mid- to upper-level professionals whose work could benefit strongly from
the training provided by the program. For information on the promotion
of the Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program and selection of candidates,
please refer to the Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program Guide for Rotarians
(publication 104).
Your first responsibility as district Scholarships or Rotary World Peace Fellowships
Subcommittee Chairs will be to inform the clubs in your district of the availability
of the scholarships and to distribute the materials. Please note that the
deadline for TRF to receive applications for Rotary World Peace Fellowships is 1
July 2008. The deadlines for submission of Rotary Peace and Conflict
Studies Program applications fall in June and December of
each year. Please refer to the Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program
webpage for updated deadline dates. The deadline for receiving Ambassadorial
Scholarship and Rotary Grants for University Teachers applications remains 1
October 2008.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Renée Stephenson
