Story

There is a man named Peter. He lives in a ranch that is located near a river in Mexico. He hears about a drumming contest in Africa. He decides to go and compete because he wants to gain more knowledge about other cultures. He takes his flying canoe to Africa for the competition. To prepare for the contest, he goes down to the river to bathe. At the river, he finds a fossil in the river. He decides that the fossil will bring him good luck so he puts the fossil in his wallet.
Peter goes and competes in the competition. He wins and in return, wins the Black Messiah trophy. As another prize for winning the drumming competition, a tribal leader presents him with an arrowhead. The leader tells him that is it a key to a great treasure. The search for the treasure takes him to Mongolia in his flying canoe.
Once he arrives, he takes the arrowhead to an antique store and shows the owner. The owner tells him about where the temple is that holds the treasure. There is also a detective in the store. The detective overhears the clerk speaking and decides that she wants in on the treasure. She waits until Peter leaves, then attacks him in the back alley. Peter fights back with the arrowhead and cuts off her head.
Peter goes looking for the temple. Shortly after, he finds the temple and the treasure. It is a seal with important secret codes along the side. Peter returns back to his ranch and returns to his family. He then sells the seal for a million dollars to put into his leather wallet.

2. Do all elements hang together well? (is the plot logical?)
3. How would you have changed the story, if you had had to write it alone?
4. The inventory describes details you saw and some decisions you made about
the objects. Do you agree with the descriptions in the inventory?

2. Form four groups. Have each group focus on a complete re-write of the story using the exiting inventory.

Group 2 will write for a corporate board who is thinking about publishing the story in Chicago.

Group 3 will write for a Nepalese University press in Kathmandu.

Group4 will write for the United Nations Youth Programs in Brussels.

Each group will try to write the story in such a way, that its audience will adopt the story for their next curriculum, publication, or public use project.

•Each group member writes one draft.

• I will collect these via email to Roland@stcloudstate.edu (subject: en191f06-your name-quiz1).
